MindMirror: Daily dose
15/06/11 || sly
Pull down your pants and loosen up that anus, it’s time for your daily dose of unknown-band-that-no-one-will-ever-give-a-shit-about, administered by this lady. And since I know that most of you don’t really bother to read these reviews unless they fit into a certain prerequisite, I will make this one short and sweet so as not to waste your time or mine.
Now, unlike Timothy Leary’s Mind Mirror, this will certainly not make you smarter, happier, or funnier. No, no, no. Finland’s group, MindMirror, leaves me to ask only one question: why do they exist? I suspect for the same reason as flies, mosquitoes, and pompous Parisian fashion bitches: to annoy the shit out of me.
My first thought upon listening to this useless EP was that it sounded a bit like South Park doing melodic heavy metal, or, rather, making fun of it. It is the metal equivalent of that country song from Team America. It really does sound something like a joke.
The level of creativity here is mournful. Basically the same riff drives tracks 1, 2, & 3, then finally the last song presents something different. The lyrics are puerile, melodramatic, and have no rhythm.
But I think what really did me in was the vocals. This constipated bastard can’t even stay on key for a whole song. I hope this doesn’t upset him ‘cause I’m sure he’s a really nice guy, but that kind of defeats the purpose of being the singer. Things are especially bad for the track “Daily dose”, in which his flat vocals manage to clash with some pretty wretched pinch harmonics. Goddamn, it’s horrible.
Sorry to say, guys, but this is the summation of everything you don’t want to do in a band. Or as the pompous Parisian fashion bitches might say, “tout est de mauvais goût”.
